Help Your Pup Beat the Heat This Summer

Wowzers was it hottttt there for a few days making me think May was mid-July!! If that's any indication of what this summer is going to be like, we are in for it!! With that said... I sure hope you have AC, because at the kennel - the dogs DO!! And if you don't, they're gonna wanna be with me & Baker everyday... I know, I know - they already do! Well, since that's not feasible, I'm going to give you a few of my secrets of how we are helping the pups beat the heat this summer here at the kennel!

Firstly, we are pulling out the doggy pool - originally purchased for Caliber as a whelping box, and used successfully THREE times! Now, it's been cleaned, sanitized, and is filled daily with fresh, cool water for the pups to soak their feet, roll around in, or get a "shower." I'm just praying that it doesn't get punctured with the dog's nails, which I'm sure is just a matter of time, but we're enjoying it like nobody's business until then!

Similarly, we are pulling out the sprinkler for the pups and this is honestly a HOOT!! They looooove chasing the water, trying to bite it, they think it's a game, and they get cooled down while they're having an absolute ball! My favorite part of this, is that I can stand FARRRR away, take the funny photos, and not get wet!! Like seriously, how much fun is this?!?! And all I had to do was turn on the hose!

We are also adding a couple of COLD pup treats to our menu of "extras" so you can spoil your pup with something sweet, cold, and delicious! I mean personally, I'm a sucker for ice cream and with Reese working at Flynn's Cones during the summer, I'm hitting that place up A LOT... so why shouldn't our pups be treated to something sweet and cold too, right? So here's our summer specials:

Frozen Pup Pops - a delicious blend of banana, peanut butter, Greek Yogurt, honey, topped with a famous Baker's Biscuit and frozen in a little Dixie cup for easy serving. And, just to warn you... your pups are going to be wanting these on the regular!!

Fruity Pupscicles - a vitamin packed, hydrating sweet treat that's low in calories (can I have these?!?!) that your pup is sure to love!! With that said, your fur baby can have a couple in a day because these pupscicles are made of watermelon, cucumbers, and coconut water!!

And, I'd say that I saved the best for last... although we aren't necessarily needing it this week, eventually we will and I'll be glad it's ready - the pups will now have AIR CONDITIONING!! The cats and I couldn't be the only ones living the high life over in the office, plus the heat levels can be super concerning during the summer months, so I think this was a necessary add-on that will leave y'all with one less worry when you leave your furry friends with us.

Stay cool my friends!!
